About half the population of Uganda is under 15 years old. In addition, as a result of the civil war in the 80's and because of the remaining high rate of AIDS, there are an extremely high number of orphans and handicapped youngsters among them. |

The Ugandan government is developing and running programs for those socially disadvantaged groups. The know-how of GTZ is helpful in supporting these activities. |

Already available forms of help include steps to reintegrate street-kids and orphans into their families or communities. So-called survival training is also offered that teaches basic skills to increase the chance that such underprivileged children can earn money with their own hands. |
